No freedoms recognized for citizens can be exercised, it's against the Constitution and the laws, nor against the existence and goals of the socialist state, nor against the decision of the Cuban People, nor against your decision to build socialism and communism, you know the Cuban Penal Code punishes you for not conforming to the law? You’ll go to prison! The Cuban customs law limits the amount of goods that can be brought from abroad. In the case of artificial nails, the limit is 24! Your additional nails will be taken. You will go to prison! Cuban children receive education in accordance with the "Marxist ideology," and "Communist formation" will be promoted, except for the children of foreign diplomats. They won’t go to prison! Yesterday we didn't eat because there was nothing. If last week you had the flu, fever, otitis and kidney infection this country won’t give you a pain killer. I got diagnosed with diabetes. Internet access service is offered to foreign individuals with temporary or permanent residence in Cuba. Again, and again, and again, and again. Then, you can leave– Next. With great faith asking God to give me strength to move forward. Jaeme Vélez is a writer who lived in The Bronx, Madrid, Orlando, and Málaga by age eleven. As a first-generation college student with similar yet different Spanish and Puerto Rican heritage, Jaeme likes to entangle cultural narratives by exploring the dynamics between various social strata and the complexities of identity and society. Amidst the hustle of Columbia’s life, Jaeme worked on television series such as Queen of the South and Walker. Currently, he is promoting the second season of the series “El Inmortal,” released on Movistar+ and HBO Latam, among other platforms. During his academic journey, Jaeme delved into Latino studies and Theater, spicing things up with a taste for research in Human-Computer Interaction and AI exploration
